Dell charger problem

    Hi all,

I hope I have posted in the correct forum, i have done a quick search for previous threads involving my laptop problem but could find nada.

I was using my laptop earlier this week when suddenly turned itself off- i though the battery was dead however the charger was plugged into the computer and power socket. When i went to turn the laptop on, I noticed that the little blue light, on the charger, was on (which i think means that it is in working order), but when i plugged the charger into the laptop the blue light turned itself off. And now my laptop wont turn on!

Any ideas what the problem is? Do i need a new laptop charger?

My laptop is a Dell XPS M1330 and is 3 years old. The charger and battery are the same that came with the laptop when it was new.

Full anti virus software was installed too so that shouldn't be a problem.

    Ideas/ solutions appreciated

    Thanks - K :D

I'd bet that the charger is indeed faulty. However if you can you should check with another charger to make sure that it's working okay.

Can you borrow a charger from a friend and see if the laptop works okay? If it does then at least you'll be able to charge your battery while you procure a new one. :)

sounds like the board is sending current back to charger and shorting it, is it still under warranty ? if not you could need a new board if a replacement charger does the same
