I hear Blue Insurance do it. Apparently very reasonable from 50euro upwards as far as I know. I haven't bothered lookin into it yet, so unfortunately I'm not much help!

We used them also. Weddings are such expensive events you at least want some peace of mind just in case.....

    Ours cost €149 though...

    We used Blu
    http://www.weddinginsurance.ie/

You should work out how much all of your deposits will be (roughly) and make sure thats covered. Some of the cheaper packages only cover a small deposit so if you've paid more than that its of no use.

We went for the 4* cover but in hindsight the 4* probably would have been enough.

I was looking at insurance recently but havent got it yet Im wondering exactly what I need in terms of cover.

Do you just get cover for your upfront costs ? Ie your deposits or do you get cover for the total cost of the wedding.

I want to be adequatly covered but dont want to overinsure. Ive emailed some of them and they are about as helpful as an inflatable dartboard when it comes to discussing the cover you need.:mad:

Most of them have the policy details printed in black and white on their web page. I know blueinsurance definitely does and there's little difference between the insurer's policies.

Not exactly. They have headline details . For example I emailed Blue asking them a very straightforward question

If the venue goes bust will I recieve any monies paid to the hotel back.

Answer I got was if the wedding is cancelled and rescheduled you will get 75% of the money to reschedule the wedding. Im sorry I didnt ask for a generic crappy answer.

I asked a specific question thats not covered on their website or in the terms and I want a specific answer. I then called them and they didnt know the answer.

They said they would call me back. Guess what Im still waiting a month later.

Now you can assume your covered in that scenario from the generic answer but I dont like to work off assumptions. Insurance companies are infamous for finding reasons not to pay out on policies, so assumptions can be the mother of all F**k up's.

Its irrelevant what they tell you in an email. What matters its what it says in the policy document.

Blu do have the documents on their website. See here:
    http://www.weddinginsurance.ie/common/UKU-Wedd.ie-IRL-2010-V1.pdf

See section G for your specific query.

Dont want to get off topic but its not irrelevent. An email stating a response to a question about a financial product can be used in the case you need to take a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman regarding the misselling of a financial product.

There are many referenced cases where proof of being missold a financial product had resulted in the client winning a judgement agains tthe company from the financial ombusman and being reimbursed and the company being fined for misselling a product.

Anyway going totally off topic  thanks for the link covers what I needed :)

Just interested to hear, has anyone ever successfully or unsuccessfully claimed off wedding insurance?
