    Hi
My husband is in the process of organizing a scholar's visa to go on a 6 month Uni sabbatical in California.
I qualify for some sort of spousal visa associated with this, does anyone know if I am allowed to work?

Is it a J1 scholar visa? If so you are getting a J2 spouse's visa (which is what I have). J2s can apply for an Employment Authorisation Document (EAD) which allows you to work. Unfortunately you can't apply for an EAD until you enter the US and they take up to 90 days to process - mine have always taken at least 70 days.

    Hi Lonestar
Thank you, yes it's a J1. Found the info, pity about the wait period, but there's always some catch when it comes to paperwork
