Make up and conjunctivitis

I have conjunctivitis which I'm using prescribed meds for. At the moment one of my eyes is red and slightly irritated (feels dry) but not swollen.
I really want to go out tomorrow night and I KNOW that eye make-up is not a good idea at all.
But I really do not look good without my usual dark eyeliner laden eyes.
My question is if you know what type of make up I can do that will cause the least harm?
eg. fake eyelashes? only make up on the top lids?
    Any advice is appreciated!

Instead of using lots of eye makeup, maybe you could go for a strong lip colour instead and then just sme mascara, if you're still able to wear it?

I agree about making your lips the main feature, I *really* wouldn't recommend using eye makeup when you've conjunctivitis, especially as you can keep reinfecting each eye if you use the same things on both, don't do it!!

I would throw out every bit of eye makeup you have right now eyeliner (top it a good bit if it's a pencil) , liquid eyeliner and any liquid eyeshadows you have, as Spadina said you could reinfect your eyes. Conjuntivtus is not fun!

Wash your brushes with hot water and some baby shampoo and leave to dry. I used to get really bad conjuntivitus as I used to wear contacts and lots of make up and I probably rubbed my eyes too much with unclean hands. Make sure that you wash your hands when you need to rub your eye, your hands might not be dirty but you might get something on them that would irritate your eyes and make them sore.

Try not to wear eye make up at all, and make sure you throw out any eye make up you used up to a few weeks before the infection - re infection is extremely easy. (I threw out my eye shadows, liquid eyeliner, foundation and eye pencil sharpener and cut about half way down my eyeliner pencil)

Personally when I had this problem I styled my hair over the infected eye (not touching it) and wore a pretty trilby while I only applied make up to the other eye.

I think what other posters have said about wearing a strong lip colour to focus on your lips instead is a great idea.

Last week I couldn't wear any eye make up as I had LASIK done. It was a pretty horrendous week but had to be done. Personally I'd say just go without this once. It's terrible I know but otherwise you could end up with it even worse and lengthen the length of time without make up.
