Hi All,
Ok, I'm in the right place now thanks Mod.

I rarely use my paypal account. The last time was probably more than 9 months ago. I recently transfered a small amount of funds from my personal bank account into my paypal account in readiness to make a purchase. Then shortly after I realized that I would not in fact be making the purchase.

Its now 5 days since I made the transfer and it still does not show in my paypal account. My personal account shows it as transfered 5 days ago.

I have not chased this up yet because I remember the last time I transfered funds it took a long time and was only shown in paypal account after I chased them about it. I want to give them a bit more rope.:D.

Is there a policy in place whereby you have to always ring paypal before funds show up in their accounts. Whats going on with them.

Strange this should happen with two concecutive transactions 9 months apart???

Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

Meaning you've possibly set it up wrong, and they can't track your payment.

Good point I will check that out soon. In the mean time I found this note on paypal site (see pic). It says wait 5-7 days for clearance. For some reason I thought it was only 3 so I'll hang on a while longer.

Above is wrong, adding funds is the same as an e-cheque so takes 7-9 days to clear.

Hi I just learned what an Echeque is and I don't think it applies in my case.
The reasons are two fold.
1. I made no puchase.
2. Paypal are not requesting a payment from my bank account. It is I who is arranging a payment to my paypal account.

Whenever I transfer funds it takes 3 working days.However I once entered incorrect details so paypal refunded my account after 10 working days.

Normally takes 4 or 5 days for me, transferring through BOI online.

Yes you are adding funds or sending an echeque to yourself.

Sorry, I'm still not convinced that in my case this is an echeque transaction. See attachment from 'paypal site' explaining 'why echeque payment has not arrived into paypal account'. I have followed that instruction, or tried to, there is no transaction to look at under my account history tab.

All explainations on ebay and paypal sites of what exactly an 'echeque is' bears no resemblance of the type and method of the transaction I have tried to make to my Paypal account.

I worked for PayPal I know how it works, trust me it's the same.

This is good news. Perhaps then you might be able to tell us why Paypal do not explain my transaction proceess and inform us that that too is an Echeque or if they do and I have missed it you might provide a link to it for us.

Sorry dude, bit drunk now and I've no clue what you mean by that question. Just check how long it takes to add funds to your paypal account.

The transaction time can vary from time to time but should take about 5 -7 working days to clear into your PayPal account. It will show as having been taken already from your bank account balance, but the reason for the time scale is that the funds will then have to pass through a number of clearing houses before being correctly processed through to your account. that is to say if you have done so correctly

There shouldn't be any issues with this transaction so try not worry too much about it. If by chance the transaction hasn't gone through correctly which is rare, PayPal will be able to initiate a trace on the fund in order to determine where they may have gone. So discounting weekends, it might mean you still have to wait a few more days.

I can guarantee you that it has nothing to do with an eCheck. An eCheck would only come into play if you were sending funds to another PayPal user but not when you are just adding funds to your PayPal account as you said you are doing.

All ok now.

I found the problem myself. Palpal is set up on my personal bank account as one of my 'payees' so that I can make the transfer quicker. I only have to put in an amount and what message is to appear on the recievers end.

I always keep screenshots of these transactions and I checked these recently. In the message field I put 'my name', instead of my 'Transfer ID number that is associated with my Paypal account. oops:o.Silly me.

This was swiftly dealt with once a Paypal representative who 'understood the problem' (it took two attempts) read my communication.

Of course I did give a big time apology. By way of a proper apology I asked If they could send this years profits to me 'in cash' and I would gladly count it for them, thought it may save a bit in accountants fees during these difficult times....They said thank you but declined the offer:D.
