Im in Dublin 12. Can you recommend a GP near me who is good on anxiety/depression. In the city centre would do too. I go to my local GP but he admits himself he's not well up on this and so when I go back to him its just renew the prescription and that's it.
I think you have to PM me with recommendations.

have either of yea considered Hynotherapy? It really really works for anxiety and mild depression and panic attackes etc. I was total skeptic and I attended 3 sessions of hynotherapy and it really really worked for me. Just a thought

Would have to agree. I know I've made my oexperience of hypnotherapy known here before. Just make sure you find a therapist you can feel comfortable with and confident in. Check out this guy in Ballsbridge www.aidansloan.ie

    Best of luck

Sorry to hear that. One thing I learned from my experience is that just listening to a hypnotist making suggestions for a few sessions is unlikely to help. Ask the hypnotist about the therapy before you start. I was surprised but in all my sessions I was talking to the hypnotist while I was in hypnosis. I think that's when hypnotherapy is really powerful. I learned so much about why I was thinking the way I was and how it was effecting me emotionally.

    Thanks for these suggestions.
I do want a GP too though someone I see maybe every 3 months or 6 months. I know Harry Barry MD is well up on this but he's far from me and probably all booked out.

Dont listen to the others about hypnotherapy, I think people troll here preying on vunerable people trying to sell themselves.

Get yourself a good cbt therapist, any gp should give you a list of low cost therapists.

GPs in general are pretty useless to talk to about things like that, they just want to medicate you. Ive been there. Just be persistent and say you want to be put on a waiting list for psychotherapy, there's different therapists you can be put in touch with who might help but you will have to stick to your guns about the antidepressant as they are always very keen to give this to you. Like they are magic and can get rid of every problem.

There really needs to be something done about mental health in Ireland. I have to say though I didnt have much luck with the hse therapists either.

You're best bet is to look for a therapy group that deals with BD, they are usually free or low cost and you get to meet others who are similar to you.

Good luck with what ever you do
