So brian cowen remains leader of fianna fail. what a shock. miriam just said on prime time that cowens approval level stands at record level low of 8% so why did they vote to keep him as leader?
The complete BS spitting out of them all is hilarious. Maybe they voted to keep him in cause he is going to preserve the honour of the party as brian cowen says he will? Clearly the horse has has already bolted on that one.
How this came now do is just silly. Not before the IMF when there was already plenty of discontent and not immediately after the IMF deal but they thought better late than never and so near the end of january considering there is supposedly an election around march.
SILLY is the word that describes its best i think.

IMO this is the beginning of a split in FF. Those that have stood up against Cowen are doing nothing but trying to keep their seats IMO.

The level of parochial politics, given the current crisis is frightening. Bad and all as they (FF) are, the opposition parties hardly inspire confidence either.

I think it just shows how confused they really are and unable to make a good decision.

I agree and i have to say i was very much dissapointed when enda kenny remained leader of fianna gael after they supposedly cut the grass and exposed the snakes as he put it. Eamon Gilmore seems like a good speaker and leader but its clear that renegotiating that IMF deal is fiction and not possible at least not without coming under increased pressure to increase the corporation tax which would be very damaging for the jobs sector and companys already struggling to keep their heads above water.
Reckon ill be voting Fine gael and im 23 and never voted before and i dont think im alone in that category. There will be more younger people voting in this election who have never voted before just to see the back of this fianna fail circus like government. Similar to when so many young people voted for barack obama in the US for president. I never thought irish politics was so cut throat , i mean its worse than US politics for in party snakes in the grass .

I think the big difference with the opposition and especially with Fine Gael is the quality of the people who will occupy the front benches. They have far more depth and experience in the relevant areas.

I agree with people that Enda Kenny is not the strongest leader FG could have but he has brought them back from the brink of extinction unlike Cowen who has brought Fianna Fail to an absolutely disastrous position, possibly and probably their worst ever performance in a General Election.

while i agree that fine gael have members with better experiance to suit ministerial positions . I live in the locality of Dr James reilly and ive heard him speak a fews times on prime time and i reckon he would make an excellant minister for health. It would be nice to see someone who is somewhat qualified in the field they assigned to as ministers.
I just heard on the news today about mary harney how she cancelled the vaccination programe for cervical cancel due to budget cuts. Thats an absolute disgrace and would expect to see that reversed if fine gael have any real back bone and integrity, I honestly cant see or believe that Enda Kenny brought fine gael back from the brink of destruction , it was clearly the work of brian cowen more than enda that has fine gael to where they are now.
