Does anyone know how many new cars Subaru have sold in Ireland this year and how many of each model was sold? I'm curious as they seem to have hiked their prices over the last year or so while releasing models less attractive then their predecessors. Just wondering how its going for them

I tried looking this up on motorcheck.ie recently but it's subscription only and you have to jump through hoops to demonstrate you're in the trade:rolleyes:. Was free fora while but the dealers kicked up - sensitive information yada yada...

Mind you I haven't seen too many of the new Legacys on the road and a few demos seem to be advertised a long, long time on driving.ie.

I sure someone here can get the info...

Probably. They've very little else going for them imho. Don't get me wrong - great cars and all that, but too expensive. Some people got good deals in the last few years though. The early diesels were priced well as were the last of the petrols. Weren't they, Anan? :D

The problem with Subarus is that they are so ugly and they are not that tax efficient - even with the diesels.

We have cars as powerful as the Legacy that are in band B while the Legacy was stuck in band D.

This is even worse when you consider that its predecessor actually was in a lower VRT band (band C) and when the Legacy diesel first came out its competitors were also in band C.

They're not really that different now - frameless doors gone etc. They're not a car for everyone - but those that have imagination and an ability to think for themselves are quite ok with that and I would see it as the reason to buy one - but if they are no different to their competitors, then what's the point?

The new Legacy saloon is still band C (http://www.subaru.ie/index.php/subaru-models/legacy/technical-data/296). Tourer and Sports Tourer are D though.

I agree with you about the appearance and the blandness of the current range which combined with the current pricing has to be hitting sales - I don't think that I'll be replacing my Legacy with another Subaru - there's much better value elsewhere.

Its also a mystery to me how they sell any Imprezas given the price and uninspiring interior.

The latest pricing baffles me. I picked up a new diesel tourer (previous model) back in july 09 for 27.5k. I saw what was comind down the road and jumped in before it would be difficult to get one. Also like 245 i dont think i'd replace it with the current model
