    Hi,

I have a launch Ps3 which has had the YLOD a few times. Kept getting it fixed but im thinking of getting a refurb. I'm looking for refurb buyers to let me know know if they are in perfect working order and how long they lasted or still lasting? Dont fancy forking out €280 for a brand new one.

    Cheers

I kept getting it fixed in a plaxce that fixes them.€80 to fix YLOD each time, had it done twice and another time was still under 3 month warrenty.Do not want to pay another 80 for something thats going to happen again in 3-4 months. So anyone have a refurb and is it still working?

Why keep forking out €80 for heat gun that will only last 3 months?
If you are willing to do that, can you fix it and trade it in?

I've had four refurbs, all 60GB.
First one worked in the store when I collected it but wouldn't accept a disc when I got it home.
Second picked up a few days later, lasted for seven months before disc drive crapped out.
Third one would overheat after about 15mins.
Fourth one is I got this time last year, still working so far.

Pretty horrific failure rate on something that is supposedly 'as new'.

Thanks for the reply man, I have a 60gb one too but was informed by the shop that sony dont do the 60gb one anymore and they will give me an 80gb or a 120gb slim. Going to collect a refurb tomorrow so hopefully it will be the slim. 3 month with that so if I get problems with that i will fix and trade in and buy a brand new one.

Got the YLOD last week and since the heat gunn option is only a temporary fix im looking for a refurbished one. How much was it in Charlestown?

It was €160 and well worth it. Still working perefectly. Don't bother getting your one fixed. If it happened once it will happen again soon after getting it fixed

Got my launch day 60gb reballed and it didn't "take" wasn't charged the €110 so ended up spending €260 on a 2nd hand slim 6 months old, 2 controllers, charging dock, half a dozen games and 30 months extra warranty including accidental damage cover.

    adverts.ie

Selling Ps2 and games now as dont get much gaming time.
Had bought 250gb hdd expecting reball to work.

A reball normally comes with at least a six month warranty, if it'didn't take' you should have got a refund surely

It likely means the board was warped beyond repair, or it wasn't a solder problem to begin with. They should have explained it better to you, least you got sorted
