Social inclusion policy

A friend who sits on a statutory committee has been asked to make suggestions for a social inclusion policy. The organisation doesn't have direct contact with the public but the main issue is ensuring that non-Irish nationals are represented.

Can anyone make suggestions to be included in a social inclusion policy?

Might be worth looking at the main policy document in this area, see link http://www.socialinclusion.ie/documents/NAPinclusionReportPDF.pdf

Would suggest a quick scan to see what sort of 'actions' it refers to, which might give you ideas.

Beyond that, I'd have thought for non-national people issues of social exclusion might arise in relation to language, unfamiliar cultures, ghettoisation, etc. So actions to address these might be the type of thing to cover (language training - already being provided in many cases but are there some non-national groups not being reached?) (inter-cultural events - how can a certain national group of non-nationals find a way to showcase their culture to Irish people and break down barriers).

I'd be really surprised if the many community and statutory groups now representing non-national would not have good ideas on their websites.
Immigrant Council of Ireland, Migrant Rights Centre, AkiDWa, etc.
