MacBook charger issues

    Hey,

Have a MB Pro since Dec 2009 and been having some problems with the charger over the last month or so.

The magsafe adapter became very sensitive, where I'd have to plug it in, then re-plug it in over and over a few times for it to finally connect. The slightest movement would knock the thing off. This started around Christmas time and has gotten steadily worse.

Now this morning, the charger just WILL NOT connect to the MB. Tried a mates MB charger, same story. I'm guessing it's a hardware issue with the battery.

Looked up the Apple website there, wen't through the various troubleshoots and it's telling me that because the laptops out of warrenty I'd have to pay to speak to someone in AppleCare? Seems mad. I don't mind paying to have it repaired, I just don't want to pay to speak to someone who might not even be able to solve the problem?

Any ideas on what I should do? Is there any authorised Apple repair people in this country I could go to?

If it's the adapter they are pretty cheap to replace. Can you borrow a working adapter to check?

Sorry. Had a pint at lunch and only skimmed over the message.

Have you tried resetting the System Management Controller? See:
