That time of year again. Anyone racing these?

I should be in for Feb and March. Looking forward to a race at this stage.

I'm thinking about it. What's the standard like on these? I'm not that fit yet this season on the run and pretty inexperienced on the bike, so I'm a bit worried that all the cakes will be gone while I'm still at the turnaround on the bike!

The standard is wide and varied. If you want to do it go for it. I wouldnt worry about times etc unless you are trying to win and it'll give you a benchmark to aim for next time you race there. I like the Naas events. The run route is nice, the bike is fairly fast and a little nerve racking at times around the bends on the way back if you're going full pelt and the road is wet! Makes it all the more fun :P

One last year, if drafting is something that annoys you avoid them

Looks like yesterday was a big turnout 250+, hoping next month isn't as busy... bike course could be pretty 'tight' with that many on it.

I had a go at this on Sunday. I am just coming back from a knee injury so wasn't expecting too much beforehand. There were 230 in the results, so a nice turnout on the day - I hadn't done this race before so I can't compare it to previous years. For my race, as expected, wasn'y particularly quick on the first run (13 1/2 minutes) but had a good cycle - 36 1/2 minutes and made up over 40 places. 2 guys passed me on the final run about a third of the way around the course - apart from that just held my place to the line. Cold day and the road's were wet - I decided to take any of the sharp corners very easy so not to tempt fate. Enjoyable day out and will try to make the next one if I can.

Hi,just a quick note to say well done to the organizers for a very well run event,i was there on sunday to spectate and one area that needs to be planed better is the demount area into transition 2,on the day the marshalls decided to bring the demount line back around 3m from the timing mat(good idea as the mat was quiet narrow and would have been a bottle neck with riders trying to demount),however another marshall was then positioned a further 20m from the "demount line" to slow down riders but this caused a lot of confusion on the day.The problem was compounded by the fact that there was no line on the ground, now i know the managment of punchestown wouldnt like you to draw on their tarmac but i could be done in flour etc which would wash/brush away. The leading rider was among the competitors who demounted at the first marshall and had to run to the demount line, while others crossed the line and got penalties

    Hi all,

If your all set for a race this weekend and disappointed to miss out on this one, why not pop down to Clonea in Dungarvan. A 5km, 20km, 3km Duathlon set in a very scenic part of the country and apparently there is a great goodie bag etc...

No ODL or Tri Licence required just the entry fee of 20 bucks!

    Details on www.transitionsevents.com

Check it out. I hear there is entry on the day and aslo the on-line is staying open untill Friday.
