Right, so the thing is when I turn my laptop on with the battery plugged in, it'll work for a few minutes and then just randomly turn off. The time frame can range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes. ATM the only way I can use it is by having it constantly plugged in, if I remove the plug-in it'll work for a few minutes before powering off again.

How old is the battery? Is the battery cap properly meeting the plate?

About a year old, I'm sure it is meeting the plate properly otherwise it wouldn't turn on at all. Not sure though, thanks anyway.

If you have a LI battery and have allowed it to completely discharge at some time it probably won't take a charge now. Those types of batteries shouldn't be allowed to drop below about 3% or they won't recharge. Sounds like a new battery might be necessary. Amazon.com supply them -- I have bought from them before.
