Dentists and medical cards

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me whether dentists are covered by medical cards. I need to see a dentist :( ,and I haven't been to one in years so I'm totally out of tune with how they work.

you're covered for an annual exam, 2 emergency fillings in a 12 month period and all extractions. there's other items for which the dentist must send for approval from the local health authority.
