    Hi guys

Looking to get a semi solid or a laminate floor - has anyone any suggestions on where to get it in Dublin or surrounding areas?

Ideally somewhere that will supply and fit it

Anyone get it done and can recommend?

Ive used Des Kelly before for laying some semi solid and also for stairs and landing carpet in a house.

No messing about, quick to come out and lay both the flooring and carpet, snug fit too.Took away the old carpet and left no mess.

They have a sale on at the moment.:)

    No they aint.

Theres such a thing called flashing the cash and talking a deal through.

People seem to have lost the art of talking a good deal.

Des Kelly were actually the cheapest out of 5-6 different places that I tried to haggle with for carpet and flooring supply and fit for a house I did up a while back.

Noyaks Newmans were really really helpful. Getting prices of full kitchen fitting, 15 doors, laminate, semi solid and solid wood flooring. They guy I dealt with was Chris really helpful. Of course I may not be saying that when I get the pricing back;)

    Thanks everyone

Checked out a few places today

I think a laminate is what I will go with - much more durable and scratch resistant than the semi solid

Price wise - the product seems to be the same price more or less everywhere - well give or take 2 or 3 euro a sq yard

But fitting cost - some places looking for 17 a sq yard - now say you were dealing with a 30 sq yard area thats 510euro - and everywhere seems to reckon it would be a days work, about 8 or 9 hours

Is it just me or does that sound crazy price for fitting?

Eh no,not the case at all.

You might want to do your research a bit more, before you go for a laminate.

Alot of laminates (especially the chesper laminates) do scratch easily and also chip away quite easily too, furniture also sinks into the laminate and can leave nasty indentations in the laminate flooring.

You really need to do your homework.

A semi solid is a very tough hard waeing flooring system and can be sanded down up to 5 times, depending on what thickness you go for

After aklot of loking around and weighing up laminate V semi solid V solid,I opeted for wide plank engineered white oak in 20mm thickness.

Engineered is the most stable of the lot and best for high load and high usage areas..:)
