I was reading through the 'do you own your own car' thread and I am surprised by the amount of people saying that they own 3 cars or more.

How many cars do you own?
Why do you need more than 1?
Do you live rural or urban?

    Also what are they?

Why do you need more than 1? I only really need 1 - wanna buy the other 2? Nah, didn't think so.
Do you live rural or urban? urban

    Where's the bleedin' poll?

One at the mo, not unusual for me to have two at a time but only one would be on the road, the 2nd would be in waiting for the one on the road to be sold generally. Only one since August though, dunno will I bother for another while, no mind for it at the moment.

Have 2 at the moment, had 3 up until last September. One daily driver, one "other" (sports/Jeep/old etc) can be daily driver if needed and one that sits about for emergency (hasn't moved in 6 months).

    Personal car
Company car (don't own that one obviously)
    "Classic" wreck

Realistically do need more than one due to the state of what the company provides me. This could change shortly

    Urban.

Yeah id guess that would be the shape of it alright, 1 car and 1 toy.

Emergency car isnt going to be much good in an emergency if its sat for 6 months though

3 cars but 2 drivers in the house, so its not that crazy.

    1993 BMW 850CSi
    1998 Audi S8
    2001 Alfa Romeo 156 Sportswagon 2.4JTD

The Audi is my daily driver and fixer upper. The BMW actually also needs quite a lot of wrench time, but tends to be a bit more difficult and involved (and $$) to work on.

Oh, live rural of course, its the only way!

1 car, bf the same, so two in the house, we tend to interchange them, whichever we want to drive is there, with some conditions :D

2 cars and 1 bike. A total of 16 cylinders all told.

Live a little outside Mullingar, so rural I guess.

I only *need* one car, but where's the fun in that?

One - the Fabia pretty much serves all my needs, I go and visit my da and take a spin in his Mazda B-Series if I feel like a bit of a spatial challenge :)

My driving is about 90% motorway and 10% city, in an ideal world I'd have something bigger with cruise control for the motorway and for the odd time that I need to convey a selection of fat men and their million musical instruments from place to place, and then something tiny and nippy for city driving.

    5 cars - 2 drivers.

    1991 BMW E31 850ci 5.0l V12
    2002 BMW E39 530d Straight 6
    2000 HDJ100R 100 series cruiser 4.2TD Straight 6
1998 Toyota Corolla 1.3 (most used by both of us)
1975 MGB 1.8 bits of it around the garden

    All taxed and insured.

Cruiser comes out when the kids need ferrying or holidays etc. Good for snow or when the local roads are flooded.

8er does about 500 miles per year if that. Garaged.

5er does about 2000 miles per year - under Noah cover

    Corolla goes everywhere

MGB is something to do and to learn with. Eventually want to get it up to scratch.

Personally, I think having the corolla (previsouly starlet - any cheap runabout) is a great way to build up a second NCB. Means I can also run 2 'classics' for next to nothing (apart from road tax on the 8er) off the main policies. I am paying 80 notes to insure the 8er as a second classic.

    6 at one stage.

Two E28s, one E30, one Micra and two Lagunas.

Sold the E28s to the father, stripped one laguna of its parts and scrapped it and still have the rest. Though hopefully the E30 will be sold in the next few months. (For some reason....the E28s!....I've never warmed to the E30...even if I have it 6 years!)

3 (not including the spares scrapper I had until recently)

    1 regular runabout
1 classic toy for the summer
1 impulse buy mini-van that doesn't really get used

split between urban and rural-ish locations (understanding parents)
Mind you - they usually have a minimum of 4 yolks of their own at any time (including a classic fiat 600 that hasn't been outside in 20 years).

4 for me, not inc race cars. (5 if you include race cars.)

    1 for everyday
1 for nice weekends and long cruises (currently off the road getting work done)
1 for even nicer weekends, I always wanted 1 so its a dream car of sorts :)
1 cos I love that model, used to have one, so bought another for keepys :D

    24 cylinders. . . yee haaaaw

3 are in storage. I live in suburbia.

Yes a mix of Alfa Romeos and Fiats (mainly Fiats, the neighbours must have thought we were opening a dealership :D) mostly Unos, X1/9s and Regattas, not including the FFR. Unfortunately as with most cars from the 70s and 80s they rusted horrendously. Hes cut down since to 7 cars, 2 vans and a tractor :P

Our house on google street view looks like a graveyard for old cars...!!!
