    Hi,

As with the other thread, I am selling this for a friend. He might pop into the thread, otherwise I'll try to get you answers as soon as I can.

Here is what he has to say about his bike:

Focus Mares Cyclocross Bike for sale 750 Euro.Xl Alloy frame with carbon fork. 55cm c-c seat tube and 56cm c-c top tube. Shimano 105 groupset, Pro Lite wheels and Conti tyres.
I bought the bike last Nov and only used it for 3 races and a couple of training rides. It's as good as new, fast and handles really well. I'm selling it to get an upgrade

    It is indeed.

I should point out that he knows I put it up here, it's not like I am just deciding to sell all his stuff. ;)

If he is interested in splitting I would be interested in the wheels w/out the tyres.

    I'll pass that on

is this bike still for sale?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 678 ✭✭✭briano

    That's quite the chance Positron.

Let me check, I'll find out if it has been sold yet, and post back up here as soon as I hear

Cheers briano - if that's too low just think of it as a free bump! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 678 ✭✭✭briano

It is still for sale, but not for €450 I am afraid.

    Thanks for the bump though!

Okay €451? :D Just kidding. Unfortunately I can't afford to spend more than €500, so €500 would be my final offer. I am guessing that's probably too low - and if so, best of luck wtih the sale, hope he gets what he's looking for.

PS: I do have b2w scheme yet to use, but I don't want to buy from the limited list of expensive shops just out of principle (don't reward greed). Hence trying to grab on here, and the tight limit.

Sorry for the amature post.. but i am looking for a road bike to train on. Would this bike be suitable?

I do triathlons mainly...Lots of them!

    Hi Potsy,

As is, this bike would be great for something like WAR or Gaelforce, where there is an offroad section.

There would be nothing stopping you putting thinner tires on it and some clip on tri-bars if you just wanted to train on the roads. The main differences between this and a standard road bike are the brakes, wheel clearances and cable routing. The shifters, gears etc are all the same.

There is a road bike for sale too, it is older, but has a higher spec groupset and is a "pure" road bike as it were - here is the link

Hi Positron, I'll say it to him, but I am not holding my breath.

Would you be interested in this one instead? Ken Evans

Cheers briano. I am a shortie for that Ken Evans (180cms, 83.5 inseam). Thanks anyway.

    Hey,
Is this CX bike still available? If so what height is the original owner? I'm 186cm & think this may be a little small for me.

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 678 ✭✭✭briano

    I think it is

The Owner is tall enough, I'd say about 6'1 or so.

I've owned a Mares (54cm) and found it a bit too small (I bought it for a family member). I normally ride a 58cm road bike and I'm around 180cm.

So I'd guess that this might fit if you're very flexible, but if not there's a lovely 58cm BMC for sale around the same price here.

If only there was a some size that was bigger than 54cm but yet still smaller than 58cm. Dare I dream of such a thing...

LOL, yeah. Brain fart. I was sure I had a point. It was probably that one of the two bikes would likely fit!

@Briano: my bike would fit you. You should buy it. You'd look great on it.

    I'd look great on anything.

How much is postage to Sweden ;)

Hi Lumen, thanks for the feedback. The 58cm may be better (My road is a 57cm Look) but the bike equipped with Tiagra is overpriced.

Briano I`ll offer €550 for the Focus
