Apprenticeship in seamstressing/dressmaking

Hi just wondering does anyone know if apprenticeships in dress making/tailoring/seamstressing/alterating etc are ever given? I'd like to get into this professionally and am starting evening classes after work as a start but would love the opportunity to study it in this way! Alternatively are there any really good full time professional courses available? I don't know anyone who does this sort of thing so have no clue where to begin and google hasn't be very helpful

In Galway Technical institute you can do a PLC textile design course. Perhaps there's something similar in Cork? I know there are a few in Dublin also. As for apprenticeships, I'd imagine they would be in design areas (more than just the skill of dressmaking) and be few and far between in Ireland.

My advice would be to do your evening course and progress as much as possible with it. Enjoy it fully while you're learning and think of it as a career later.
