Gardening in an old overflow water tank?

    Hi,

First time poster in this forum, apologies if this is a regular request.

I live in a two up/two down terraced house in Dublin - no garden either front or back. The back comes out into a communal lane. The most forbidding of circumstances for gardening in a way :) But for some reason I have recently developed an interest in trying my hand at it. I have an old water tank in the lane that I would love to grow something in.

Are there any resouces for this kind of gardening? Any recommended books? I would especially love to grow something that I could eat.

    Thanks,
    C
