So Warrington's new Australian centre Joel Monaghan is expecting to cop abuse from the fans in the Super League.

    BBC Link: HERE

Regardless of his "love" outside of sport he will be a great signing for Warrington.

If you are unaware of what hes done, google will provide you with the fairly horrible evidence.

I really, really hope Sky leave the volume high enough to hear each chant at least once. Hope the fans are imaginative. :pac:

Yet another Australian reject comes to SL when he cant cut it in the NRL (for whatever reason)...if he thinks he's going to get an easy ride here i reckon he's sorely mistaken. Know he's a good player, but really we need to wean ourselves off the addiction to Aussies if the game's progress here. Really think they've got to do something about the sheer number of these guys in the game at the moment. Its strangling the development of young talent. Very depressing really.

What is particularly annoying is he will probably do a year or two in the Super League to serve his time, then head back to the NRL, as free as a "Bird"

It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation though, if the British lads can't get a spot ahead of an Aussie reject then one has to question the coaching (structures) in England. Lowering the standard of the SL would then surely make it more challenging again to get young players to the top level when they aren't competing against the best players week by week.

Yep agreed to a point, but often parachuting in superannuated aussies is the worst kind of short-termism. instead of developing a player, and all the ups and downs that go along with that, its easier to grab one of these guys and stick 'em in the first squad. It'll never happen, because the SL is addicted to this process, but I really think there should be a limit of 2 SH players per team. Otherwise the SL will always be the NRL's poor cousin, and England/GB whatever, will always come a poor second to the Kiwis/aussies.
