Hi all, Over the last number of months I've noticed what appears to be a glitch with UPC's EPC2425 modem/router. At 5 minutes past the hour, ANY hour, if I'm on a phone call, the call will drop for 3-4 seconds and then continue i.e. the connection is there but the other persons voice disappears for the 3-4 seconds before returning. Internet connections can also drop for a number of seconds at the same time. By using a program called Perfping_201 (It can perform continous pinging and log the results to a log with datetime stamp) I think I've narrowed the problem down to the router as pinging the router gateway gives "request time outs" at the glitch times as shown below:
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 1ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:29
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 1ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:31
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 1ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:33
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 11ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:35
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 13ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:37
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 1ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:39
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 2ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:41
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 9ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:43
    192.168.1.1, Request timed out, 08.01.2011, 12:05:46
    192.168.1.1, Request timed out, 08.01.2011, 12:05:48
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 1ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:49
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 2ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:51
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 1ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:53
    192.168.1.1, 32 bytes, 1ms, 08.01.2011, 12:05:55

Anyway, Im wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem or if a few people with UPC broadband would try pinging their own gateway ip address with perfping and post back the results. I'm trying to ascertain if this glitch is common on all EPC2425's as a mate is getting the same results! Many thanks in advance:)

It was a network issue I think.

I measured 70-100% packet loss at around 02:00. DNS requests were failing as a result and connection was unusable.

Tried this morning and it was perfect.

There was something happening here mid morning in Newbridge.

I noticed two changes when the network came back: our IP address range has changed and the upload speed has been cut from 1.5m to .5
