Middle (3 point) seatbelt on the back seats of my Mk3 mondeo are seized. They're stuck in the unused position and I can't pull them out at all. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Is the seat locked back in the upright position?

Can you get at the reel? If so, a tap with a hammer will often free a stuck reel.

Yeah it's in the upright. The unused position if you get me.

Can't get to the reel, had a look for it an don't know where it is TBH.

The following works (taken from passionford):
"fold the seat down, and give it a REALLY REALLY REALLY HARD SLAM upright again.

The belt will only work when the back rest is fully latched into place."

Tried it just a moment ago. Slammed the bugger shut a couple of times. Found an ice cream stick in the back of the seat preventing the two catches from closing fully. When you think about it, it's probably a great idea. ''RTFM'' me thinks. Next time.
