Changing Engineer during the build

    hi just just found out our engineer can no longer over see our self build for health reasons.we are about half way through our stage payments from bank.does anybody know if there will be a problem drawing down the rest of the money now that we have to change engineers half way through the build?

    There shouldn't really be a problem in doing this if the reasoning is valid enough. Health purposes is a valid reason. Contact your solicitor who will be able to guide you through.

    We had a very similar situation during our build where we changed when the foundations were poured. Informed the bank and they had no problem as long as he was qualified and insured.

    Hi I am an engineer myself involved in that work. It's no problem once the new engineer has adequate PI cover and especially if they are recognised by the lending institution. All the lenders want to be sure is that the value of works carried out matches the money paid out by them and that the house complies with building regs and planning. <snip>
