Hi guys. . .last year my teacher really just photocopied everything for us so there was never really a need for a textbook. . .this year unfortunately, im repeating as an external candidate and am struggling to grasp the four new set works. . .i was told about this book "notes" which is ment to be insanely good but very expensive. . .does anyone know if it would be worth ordering? and if yes, the full set (textbook, 2 work books, 3 cds) or just the text book ?
    thanks in advance guys :)

I'm only a 5th year now...........but I think I can help. We have only the text book and we manage just fine......but our teacher instead hands us these scores which have brillant notes written on them which cover us to get A1's in the exam. But the only reason we not get the workbooks are is that our school offers a bok rental scheme and the school decided not to make the parents buy them online.....so I'd say that it would be helpful to get a look at the books...i'd say your old music teacher at least has a copy of the workbooks to let you see (and maybe even let you photocopy a few pges out of.......:D

It's a great book, as are the text books. However my teacher gave us FULL versions of the sets on a separate CD. I believe there are copyright issues with one song.

At the end of it the day. It's down to your Playing, Melody and Harmony. Some great notes and tips for Melodys in it. I would recommend also the " blue " book. The A course. Not sure what it's called but some good listening in it.

    Its not worth it!!
Get the revision book by folens by May Costello, get the Leaving Certificate workbook to go with it and work through it. Its the easier solution.
I do music outside school, and while the stuff in notes is good, it does leave a load out. Have to gone to the music teacher's association's website? They have notes there too!!

    Break a leg lovie!!

My teacher was showing to us there last week and I don't think it's worth it for the price of it.

It's a good book but it over-complicates the set works a little. Also lacks a few examples of some essential trad essays.
