Cowen getting an hear full on George hook. It's not so much an interview as Cowen isn't allowed to reply while Hook just berates him.

Sounds awesome, it's a pity Hook doesn't have an actual hook, or a whip or spike covered baton would be cool too.:D

Why is George hook talk to him?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭Badgermonkey

That was a good interview, if only Cowen had communicated in such a manner over the last 2 years.

I reserve most of my bile for the creep Ahern, though Cowen was of course complicit.

Missed this, but Hook is good at ranting - he does the good old ear-aching, spit-flying type of ranting, but he usually lets his guests out very easy.

I'm not sure when the pod casts go up but it's worth a listen. Cowen takes most of it on the chin in fairness to him.

I really don't understand why he's determined to stay on, at this point no matter what the facts were I wouldn't want to stick around.

Hook openly admits to being a passionate FG supporter. It was never going to be an impartial interview.

Which chin?.. He had more chin's than a Chinese phone book.

was hook telling cowen about the benefits of sky!

Cowen just on The Last Word as well so one was taped, anyway I heard it and Cowen illustrated why the country is fecked and FF are going to get wiped out. Utterly clueless finance minister and as Tee-Shockt how to be a leader in the media age.

Could you tell me a little bit how the Matt Cooper interview went? I might just try to find it on RTE.

Cowen was very much in combative mode, he's sure not going to go down without a fight. He came across as a little aggressive but actually made some good points about the bank guarantee and how easy it is to be in opposition and not have to make and take the hard decisions

Its on www.todayfm.com or rather it will be a bit later.

I didn't hear all of it, Cooper was questioning Cowen esp about his legacy and how being the leader might damage the party for the election, his lousy PR skills/going missing when a statement is needed (it was this area he sounded the worst, he didn't seem to understand the public are his public as leader of the state).

Jesus! Thread title has put unerasable images of Brian Cowen ON George Hook in my head!

    *SHUDDERS*

Seriously tho, Hook has his own agenda when it comes to interviews, always biased. As an anti-Cowen, former Fianna Failer it'll do him no good appearing on such a programme which I'm all for these days! Well played Brian ye g*b****e!

    Today fm? Newstalk.ie surely?

    http://media.newstalk.ie/listenback/221/monday/1/popup

It should be here if it's todays George hook show. Failing that newstalk.ie homepage and 'listen back', podcasts usually take a day or two but the whole show is on listen back.

Edit: Oops, didn't realise we had moved on to discussing the Matt Cooper one. The link for the Hook interview is above anyway.

Yet another edit: Yup, click '2' on Monday in the link above to get straight to it.

Fairly sure that Newstalk and Today FM are based in the same building. Hook mentioned him having to run upstairs for his interview with Matt Cooper.

They are indeed. Well, Newstalk are split between Cork and Dublin, but the Dublin one is the same building as Today FM near Stephen's green as far as I know.

Doubt you'll find it there. Trying www.todayfm.com might give you a better chance.

I heard Cowan on The Last Word and I thought he gave a fantastic interview, he really did hold his own. It wasn't worth a 100k though, which is about the negative equity I'm in.

Martin was fantastic on the RTE news earlier. Brian Dobson is an awful interviewer though. He criticised Micky for using the money gotten from an unstable economy to achieve his goals in his various ministerial positions. He neglected to realise that all the while Martin's opponent was the one managing the unstable economy. Fool.

Not everyone bought property to be in a market y'know. Some people actually bought houses to like, live in them.

yeah... then the issue of "negative equity" wouldnt be a problem for them because thwy weren't thinking of re-sale....

Presumably because he's still paying a mortgage on a property that may not to be worth what he paid for it ever again.

Dobsons problem like many in RTE is he loves the sound of his own voice.
No matter who he is interviewing he will cut across them or interrupt them before they have finished a sentence.
Still though didn't think Martin said anything special in that interview.

Hook does the same. I thought Mick-e-Mart he was pretty good politically. He made some good points about not forcing his resignation so that there was no hostility and there could be an open debate etc. I mean it's not like I'd vote for FF because he's in charge, but he ran rings around Dobby the news elf.

    Cowen on Hook.

Whatever your into I suppose, each to their own and all that. But certainly not my cup of tea.
