If its the stuff with the steel cases Id stay away from it....

I bought a box of wolf ammo last year - they're pure dirt.
The fouling in the barrell after just a few shots was unbelieveable, stick to the more well known brands.
Thats just my tuppence worth !!!

They are pure dirt as the lads have said. They wouldnt even fit in the chamber of my cz 527 half the time. I bought 2 boxes of them along with the hornadys when I first bought my gun and I wont even fire the second box because there pure sh1te. Im using 50 grain jhp remington umc at €15 a box now and there grouping 1.5 inch at 200 yards for me. I was having trouble with the gun after using them because I was getting 5 inch groups at 100 yards. I gave the gun a good clean with a solvent then solved the problem. I think the wolf ammo fouls your gun out more than any other cheap 223 ammo.

I gave 20 euro for a box of rem. 50 grain hp on
Saturday . Athlone based dealer told me they
Would be 28 euro before too long . When i bought
Rifle last september they were 12 euro . Anyone know
Why they are going up in price?

David Mulival has a shop in ballymahon only 15 mins from athlone and hes selling them for €15 a box, sound man to deal with. Id say it was GS you bought them off.

Afghanistan, Iraq and other places, lot of manufacturers filling military orders, not so much hunting rounds being manufactured, hence price goes up.

WOLF ammo, perfect , if you've an Ak74, which will fire carrots, otherwise stay away , dirty stuff.

There is another brand on the market that my mate uses for his .223. The brand is " American Eagle " and he has absolutely no problem with them when it comes to grouping or even fouling the chamber. He buys them off a fella called Tom Kelly in Lahardane, just outside pontoon in Co. Mayo. Check with your dealer/s to see if they have the in stock, if not, ask them to try and get them! They are priced around €15 a box of 20!

The wolf ammo isnt good. I bought a few boxes of it and ended up giving them away. They worked fine for the guy i gave them to, just a bit dirty. Most wouldnt even fit my cz 527. Although a dealer in athlone told me they fit remmys and american guns no problem. Somthing to do with the larger tolerances they are made to. Could be bs. Ill never be caught with them again. The american eagle is far better for cheap shooting. I got them from Tom kelly in lahardane. Hes very sound to deal with.

I'll second that!! Not many dealers you can call to at 10 or 11 o clock at night!! Was out lamping one night and ran out of ammo, rang Tom and was all geared up again within an hour! :D I have bought a lot of gear/ammo of him, and come to think of it, I have never bought anything off that man before 6pm.....A true gent!

i have used wolf and found them ok but you will get the od flyer.

here is a video i made. its more focused on the effects of the different rounds but it will give you an idea of what they are like.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqcqBYM0pJI

the same day i shot this video i also shot them out to 500y and i was tagging a 9" saw steel saw blade with them.
i will try to dig out that footage

I have used american eagle, bought them in castlebar, as good as remington i think. I have also used hornady but at 28 to 30 euro a
box too dear. by the way great video Poulo. Any other brands out there?

Tried Wolf before. Not v accurate in my remington and as other posters said very dirty. Get a box and see for yourself.

For the money it's hard to beat American Eagle - hard to source at moment though.

Hornady is premium ammo, at a premium price though.

+1 for american eagle mate uses them 50 grain hollow points and there very good fox medicine

I put a wolf round in the chamber this evening. Had to put a bit of
Pressure on the bolt to push it down fired that one. Too my mind they
    Dont fit a remington 223

+1 on that!!! I have shot with my mates .223 and find it to be very accurate for foxing, it was American Eagle ammo..... would highly recommend. I was even contemplating upgrading to a .223 from my .17 hmr, another great gun and quite cheap to run!!:D

Not all chambers are the same spec...some are tight and some are loose...
It sounds like you have a tight chamber and hence the extra muscle needed to chamber the wolf round....also the wolf is a steel case so you may be doing damage to your nice shinny new chamber....
Like i said when I replied to this post earlier..."steel on steel aint a good idea"
If you have 700-1000 e spare for a custom barrel... keep shootn em....

Id give em to someone and stick with the eagles and brass cases if I was you...

    Good luck;)
