Has anyone on here bought these recently - The last time I bought 260 at €22 a box,(It was about 2-3 years ago roughly).

Today i rang my local RFD and I was quoted €30 a box which seems a bit saucy.

Is this price about right or can they be got more reasonable than that?

€30 a box for that stuff's not bad these days. About on the money. You could probably get it slightly cheaper, but not by much, and then only by buying in bulk.

Last RFD i seen them in they were 30 a box so that price is probably about as good as you will get them. I have been paying 40 euro a box for the federal 70 grains v shoks that i use so if anyone knows where to get them cheaper either give me a shout

hunter91 a lad i stalk with is now using norma 75 grain ballistic tips he got them for 28 a box off john lambert, he used to use the federal, he rates the Norma 75 grain, for neck shooting they are savage.

DR i only got the new 243 in the middle of the season (licensing hold ups etc.) so haven't got to try different brands but the two i have tried are the federals and the 75 grain normas and i preferred the federals, i was worried they were a bit light but they are brilliant for head/neck shots and deadly accurate. i know there costly but i think its worth a lot to have confidence in your bullets.

last ones i got i got off john but he charges 45 a box only got them for 40 cos i bought 100 of them. hopefully get out now in the summer a try a few others

Are the federal 70 grain v shoks for a 243 as well - If so how do you rate them ?
Its mostly foxes im after so the 70 grain would be probably better than the 100 grain.

I think so garv i seen them for 30 in a gunshop in carlow couple of months back so thats a good bit less than 40.. as i said i pay 2euro a pop for mine but there ballistic tips and there're more expensive

ROSSKI yes im using them in my .243 and i rate them highly...no foxes complained yet! probly shot about 10 with them over the last few months out to over 200 yards and so far anything hit hasnt moved

Are you sure they are not ballistic tips? If they are the soft points in the blue box he is being ripped off, John Lambert had them at the start of the season for 27 a box. If you buy bulk off him he will give you a better deal than that. I got 200 of them off him for 200 EUR about 2 year ago.

They could also be the 100gr Sierra Gameking or Nosler Partition loads, which would be the Federal Premium. If so (and they come in a red box) then €40 would be about right.
