Weekend on One

I was wondering if anyone heard John Lynn on this show at the weekend. I like the programme (both the Sat and Sun editions), but this guy was awful IMO. He was reading over the papers and mispronounced both Michaela Harte and Richie Boucher's names. He also said that the 'raptures' were encircling Brian Cowen.

Just thought it was a particularly ill-informed and poor performance. Anyone else hear it?

Pronouncing it Michaela Harte would be wrong as her name was Michaela McAreavey. Harte was her maiden name.

Is your problem with John Lynn only with his few mispronunciations?

The problem is Cathal Murray is far too straight-laced to have John Lynn doing his newspaper reviews. Murray is just too concerned that Lynn might say something that might even vaguely offend someone, which kills the thing stone dead.

Is that the guy with the appalling Sahrf' Dublin accent?

That guy should never be let within a mile of a mic.

That's him. The accent grates on me as well.

    Harte/McAreavey: understood ;)

I tend to go for Gloria on Lyric so avoid the reviews - which I can hear on the RTE Radio 1 news bulletins.
