Any comeback on a dodgy car sold by a dealer?

In november, a mate bought a 2005 Focus saloon (not an ex cop car) from a dealer, 100k km on the clock. In a few weeks, its gotten a new clutch and flywheel and now the oil is leaking out of it. He's spent 650 quid and counting. Under law, has he any comeback?

Did the dealer not offer some form of warranty?

He's trying to find the warranty, warranties are usually vague (chassis, gearbox and not much more).

Clutch won't be covered by any warranty.

The flywheel and oil leak should be covered by the engine and gearbox warranty assuming he got one.

My understanding is that when the DMF goes the clutch has to be replaced too. I think DMFs are viewed as wear and tear items but I am open to correction on this.

The oil leak should be addressed though it all depends on the terms and conditions of the warranty. And the fact that the owner has already shelled out €650 for the work presumably somewhere else, the dealer will claim that he never given an opportunity to fix it.

Could be worth his while reviewing this:
Sale of goods and supply of services act 1980.

    And contacting these:
    Small claims courts.

Not in the business but I'd be fairly suprised if a dealer tried to tell me the flywheel wasn't covered with an engine warranty, the clutch, definately not though.
