    Hi all,

So just bought a new car (07 Auris) and it has no car mats.

In your expert opinions is it worth buying expensive mats or are €10 mats as goods as €50 mats?

Also where would you recommend getting them? I went to Halfords yesterday and didnt see any that specifically fit an Auris.

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Little miss

eBay has some good mats that fit specific cars for not much money.

I bought a set of all fabric ones for IR20 quid (pre €) or so and they lasted 6 or 7 years, just needed a shake out and hoover every so often. I've never seen matts for a tenner though.

It's worth getting ones that fit right properly, there's nothing worse than a mat that moves around and gets up under the pedals. Other than that it's really just down to personal preference.

I'd pay a bit more to have the original mats, cheap mats are nasty, but only if they clip into the floor rather than just depend on gravity to keep them in place.

I got a new car a couple of years ago and splashed out €60 on a set of fitted mats. Money well spent TBH - clipped to the floor and never moved. Also had a 'lip' all round so all dirt, stones etc stayed ON the mat rather than going underneath.

Do all cars have clips that the mats will attach to?

Will the custom fit mats from Halfords attach like this?

I got myself some mats for €20 or so off www.carparts.ie a little while back, been working very well for me.

Most, if not all, will have some form of clip. No idea re Halfords mats.

On the auris, its essential to use the original toyota mats.
The floor has a really odd shape, and regular mats can jam the accelerator open. Had it happen to me.

Ok, so last silly question where can I buy toyota mats? Any idea on cost?

Thanks to everyone for your advice

The ones from Toyota main dealers are the same price as those and cover the rear floor all the way across, they also look nicer and have the auris logo on. The backing is also non slip.

The clips can be tricky to get in though, best to ask nicely at the dealer to put the clips in.

After the fun and games with accelerator pedals last year, Toyota were selling mats at cost. I got a set of Avensis mats for 30 quid from my local main dealer.

    Hi all,

Just to update - went to main dealer and got a set of auris mats (for about the same price as micksgarage.ie), the guy I was dealing with also fitted them and changed the battery in the key :)

I think you were all right - no point getting ones that dont fit correctly and looking the shape of the mats fitted there is no way standard mats could fit probably.

    Thanks again for everyones help.
