After Cowen's personal consultations, the rebellious FF-ers seem to be retreating back under whatever rock they crawled from underneath. What are they afraid of?

Has anyone seen Jim Henson's "The Dark Crystal"? The emperor of the evil Skeksies is wasting away on his death bed. Despite this, the fawning Skeksies are too cowardly and submissive to take the emperor's sceptre and assume power. The Skeksies chamberlein (Micheal Martin?) makes his power play prematurely. As a result he is banished from the castle......

I could go on, but it was an average enough movie.
