Affordable Goggles

    Bought myself a helmet online.

Happy with the helmet, but now my goggles don't fit properly - they were lidl ones. They're simply too wide for the helmet.

So I'm looking for a bricks and morter shop in Dublin where I can try on affordable goggles with my helmet. Really tight on budget.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Base Camp on Middle Abbey Street has a good selection - take a look at theirwebsite

What about the likes of Snow and Rock (Dundrum), 53 Degrees North (Blanch), Capel Camping (Capel Street), The Great Outdoors (Chatham Street) / North Face (Temple Bar) and Outdoor Adventure Store (Liffey Street).

    Most of them have websites.

Edit: Not forgetting TK Maxx as well.

Check out http://www.climateski.com/ - just ordered a bag from them this morning so can’t be 100% sure around service etc but they did reply to a mail I sent straight away.

The item I was looking for was cheaper than any of the shops in Dublin and in the UK online.

Best advice is to try on in shops, make a note of the model and order on line if cheaper.

I know you're looking more for a shop in Ireland but have a look at these anyway!!

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.49077 $3.80 (Goggles for under €3!!!)
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32117 $7.07 (UV protective)
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.33199 $13.92 (UV and fancy!)

FREEE postage and delivery takes a few weeks so don't order if you need em in a hurry!

Just to add, I think they are single layered lenses which are prone to fogging up.

Right Guys time for some very valuable advice!

If there are 3 things you should always spend a few quid on when it comes to skiing!

    Jacket

    Boots

Googles!!!!!!!! - You wont be able to see without them cheap ones fog up and do not last. Most will only have one lens for one light condition.

For ¢200 you will get a pair of Oakley googles with a spare lens which will cover all conditions. OH AND I MAY HAVE A PAIR OF WISDOME googles WITH 3 Lenses to sell soon. Have someone looking at them this week but if they don't suit them I will have them up on here.

The Addidas ID2 are really good to.

Important if you are buying googles make sure they fit with your helmet you you will get Gap Burn and it sucks!!!! or spend the day adjusting and fiddling with them

+1 for having good Goggles. Had a terrible experience one year with el cheapo goggles. Got myself a pair of Smith Optics Phenom - they are the biz :)

But, the OP is looking for a cheaper alternative in a bricks n mortor. Plenty of suggestions above.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I would love the luxury of cheap online stores, but I think I'll have to buy in-store. Will check out a couple of the places mentioned.

    Cheers.

Check out Pamela Scott Ski shop on South William street. Decent prices in there.

ditto re above and spending money on good goggles, it will really increase you're skiing experience. should be able to get a decent pair for 70 - 80 euro.

+1 for good goggles, I've wasted money on two crap pairs and they've both been chucked in the bin. I got a good pair on sale in the resort (I find they're usually cheaper in the resport) last week.
TBH I'd wait until you get there, you might not even need them.

I've also ditched goggles in the bin - but they were a bloody expensive pair!! Constantly fogging up, getting scratched easily and just never doing the job. Currently using a fantastic pair - cost me about a tenner in Lidl. Honestly, they are brilliant! they fit well, haven't fogged up once, and sure at that price they are practically disposable. I got anther 2 pairs for when they need to be binned, but they could be in the box a while..
