    Hi All

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if I can buy Franvisa natural slates from the quarry in Spain that they come from? I have got a price of 2.06 euro per slate, just wondering if I can get them any cheaper?

    Hello.
I'm new to boards.ie and certainly can't shed light on this. I'm sure at this stage you've made your decisions!
I've received a quote for same for €1.20/slate and am mainly interested in how you found them, how they look and how much wastage there was (if you used them that is?)
    Thanks

    Hi Matthil
Franvisa are a good natural slate and are 6-8mm or 7-10mm thick. Two colours bluish black or slate grey. I think the company only supply through merchants. The price you got sounds good, you will find prices in today market are very competative. The direct route would not be an option, you would save very little, when you take purchase, shipping, delivery to you etc. Through a merchant if your short or maybe have a problem where would you go if you bought direct. When purchasing allow 10% for breakage, bad slate and cutting

    Hi.
    Thanks.
I';ve since been told (by a roofer not a slate supplier) that I could do better than Franvisa and that Vigo or Forna would be much preferable Spanish slates to go with. Thoughts welcome...

Check out the Galegas too. We used them and are v. happy with the quality and price - about €1 each + VAT for the 500 x 250mm.

Matthill Im currently at the stage of buying slate for my new self build. Im just wondering did you end up goin with the Franvisa, if so could you message me the cheapest company to get them from. The cheapest I have for Franvisa 600 x 300 at the moment is 2.57 inc. VAT, not sure if thats a good price?

I'm getting natural slate for a new self build I'm doing. Went with CUPA 3 Heavy and got them for €1.33 each ex VAT @ 6,500 slates (inc. 5% waste). PM me if you want supplier details.

Very happy with them, would recommend them absolutely. Unlike most other heavy slates, they're very hard too, i.e. will last forever.

Roofer found them a bit of a pain to cut (need angle grinder) compared to others, but he knew that was the deal at the outset. Price is v. competitive too. Go for it.
