I wonder whats the latest on this gulfstream shutdown issue.the Italian scientist Dr. Gianluigi Zangari last year claimed the loop current in the gulf was broken due to the oil spill. This is major stuff, seriously major! But I cant find an update to this claim anywhere. This is our coldest winter in history,to me its more than a coincidence. If he is anything to go by we got major things on our handsBut then again he is the only one claiming it is due to the oil spill, anyone got any updates, links, anything,I am seriously freaked out by this

The exceptionally cold winters are most likely a result of changes in the distribution of heat about the Arctic. Here's a short video on the subject:

If this were the case, presumably it would be the whole winter which would be colder. As recent weeks have been much warmer, how can that be explained?

How do you explain why it is comparatively warm now?

    December 2010 coldest on record-www.met.ie
    this too http://www.accuweather.com/ukie/bastardi-europe-blog.asp
    and here http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/7766989-uk-about-to-break-the-record-for-coldest-winter-for-more-than-300-years
there are obviously going to be some fluctuations in temp but the overall trend is looking bleek. How many irish homes without running water for weeks this winter, thousands I´d say and if predicted that the cold spell will return what about farmers planting crops?.We are not prepared here and its scary

I think we all know it was very cold a few weeks ago.

I am confused. Your original argument seems to have been that, due to changes in the gulf stream, our winters are now, and will be, much colder than the averages of the past.

The thorn in that argument seems to be that we are still in the winter and temperatures are around average for the past. When asked why that is, your argument seems to be that it was very cold a few weeks ago.

It be highly ironic if north/west europe starts experiencing the similar climate to north Canada

Well have to start releasing more carbon to warm things up :P

Then what are you doing on a discussion forum? This isn't a blog - if you're not prepared to argue/discuss what you post, then don't post it.

I'm amused that this Conspiracy Theories level material is tagged as News.

Thats why the argument seemed to be flawed! I didn't watch the video(s) and rarely do as the point of being here is to discuss, and to enjoy discussion.
