Hi, Ive come accross a couple of methods of placing the windows when using exterior insulation......

Windows flush with the blockwork, that is the front face of window in line with the front face of block. Then the insulation laps over the window.

.......and windows sticking out from the wall with the back surface of window in line with the outer face of block. So the insulation butts up to the edges of the window frames.

200 MM of polystyrene to be used.

What is taken to be the best method of tackling this job?

    thank you for any advice...............

The Passiv Haus Institute recommend the option where the inner face of the window is in line with the outer face of the blockwork.

This is the best detail from a cold briding point of view.
