If you are going to be writing a few reports or a thesis its worth learning how to use referencing software such as endnote of jabref/bibtex.

Microsoft Word 2007 (and later I presume) also has a very handy referencing menu which manages all your sources and citations for you.

Doesn't do it the way a lot of lecturers want it!

Personally, I always found this website very good for Harvard referencing:- http://libweb.anglia.ac.uk/referencing/harvard.htm

I'm still using Word XP (I think).

Can you compare the Word Ref manager to Endnote or Bibtex/Jabref?

The handy thing about full referencing software is that you can download the full reference directly from Google Scholar and other online databases. Saves loads of time.

I recommend Bibtex/Jabref because its free. So when you are finished in WIT it won't matter if your employer have the software or not, you can just download it for free. Also it can be easily used with LaTex if you are writing scientific papers.

I'd have to agree with the Bibtex/Jabref with LaTeX approach. An absolute godsend when writing anything scientific or significantly long.
