Travelling to Seville

I have to travel to Seville the end of this month and am trying to find the best way of getting there and back. A lot of airlines have limited flight to seville until the spring time so I have found it difficult to plan my itenery.

Shannon to Stansted with Ryanair and then Stansted to Seville Ryanair and return, the only problem is the times the flight arrive (late) and the down time in between. Any suggestions on places to stay in Seville and places to visit?

Thre will be a direct flight from shannon to seville from mid march which will be great.

You could fly to Faro and rent a car. Did it recently.

or you could fly to Malaga and get the coach/train to Seville if you didn't fancy renting a car. Both take around the same time (2.5 hours) and leave every 2 hours on alternate hours. So effectively, there is a way to get to Seville every hour from Malaga.

I lived there for 3 years and this is almost always how I travelled because I hated going through Stansted. As for things to do there, it's an amazing city. Very beautiful and a pleasure to just walk around and get lost. The main sights to see are: The Cathedral and Giralda, The Alcazar, Museo des Bellas Artes, Torre del Oro, Plaza de la Espana, the Bullring (if you're into that kind of thing), various churches.

Places to stay, I wouldn't be so familiar with but I do know some hotels/ pensions which I could recommend based on others who have stayed there. Do you know what area you'll be in? What's your budget? Seville is one of the cheapest cities I've been to in Spain so vene a seemingly cheap hotel can be good quality.

If you need any info on places to eat or drink I'd be happy to provide some.

Another possibility is to fly to Madrid and take the train (AVE -- high-speed rail).

Thanks for the replies , The Malaga route might be the best option as probably more flights into Malaga. I think I would prefer the train rather than hire a car or take a bus. Sounds like a beautiful city alright, can,t wait to visit. Good to here that accommodation is reasonable, should be a bit quiter this time of the year aswell.

I will check out the madrid route aswell, could end up being viable depending on the availability of flights and timing.

    Thanks Again!

When you are checking, be careful about ticket prices. The AVE is quite expensive, but there are some good deals available on the Renfe (Spanish railway) site.
