I see that there is a project in the young scientist exhibition involving using bottles to insulate under houses. Can this be used in existing houses with suspended wooden floors at ground level?

    in short no.

In long - you can insulate suspended timber floors by draping insulation between the joists - usually on some form of netting.
The key thing is to retain adequate ventilation under your joists of your suspended floor, so do not put anything into this area.

What about putting the bottles on the sub floor wrapped in cardboard.
