A good lip balm?

    Hi everyone,

Im looking for suggestions on a good lip balm. I came across some old threads but unfortunately a lot of companies have changed ingredients in their products since then.

I used to be a die hard carmex girl but since they changed the ingredients I now find that its not great :(

I've tried labello, vaseline, nivea (nearly all of them), all of the carmex, palmers cocoa butter, burts bee's... I could keep going!

At the moment Im using burts bee's with carmex on top and its working fine but its a pain to have to apply two lip balms. Does anyone have suggestions for a good daily lip balm?

    Thanks! :)

I use Neutrogena Immediate Repair Lip Balm and love it. Keeps your lips really smooth.

I swear by Blistex Relief Cream.

It's the best I've ever used.

    La Roche-Posay Ceralip.
Comes in a tube and costs around €8 but is total magic!

I hear vitamin e capsules are great for chapped lips-burst them and then spread the goo on your lips or something like that i think :)

+1....it's amazing because in any bit of cold/windy weather my lips go from soft and smooth to chapped, dry and sore.

This keeps them in check, and makes your lips feel all tingly!

I normally use Burt's Bees but the Body Shop hemp oil one is also very good.

Are you using the stick version or the round tin version of the burts bees lip balm?

Not strictly an answer to your question but I always put on Vaseline last thing at night and I never get dry lips any more. Drinking lots of water is also a great help. If you can, avoid constantly reapplying during the day as I really believe this makes them worse.

I use lip service by lush and I loveeee it. Figs and rouge is good too.

Vaseline isn't great because it has petroleum in which really drys out your lips.

Carmex changed?! I've been using it for years and I haven't noticed anything different about it!

I use Dermalogica Climate Control, costs about a tenner but lasts ages. I have terrible lips (always dry and sore looking) but this stuff is brilliant!

I absolutely love the Korres lip butters they're very moisturizing I have been using it since October and my lips haven't chapped all Winter. I use the one in the pot but you can get them in stick form also. They also come with a tint of colour which is great.

yep it did :( when I found that my new tub wasnt working as well as the old one I had a look at the ingredients and found they took out the the theobroma oil and replaced it with the seed butter (which I find isnt great in many other balms)

Believe it or not the €2 coca cola one you can get in penneys is brilliant, much better than carmex IMO

Are you talking about the lip smackers :D

I love them I've gotten a few including the Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper, Sprite and Fanta one. I think they're deadly :p

If you have the money, I cannot recommend Creme De La Mer enough!! I suffer from very bad dry lips. After trying nearly all of the products recommended above I decide to shell out the €50 for the La Mer balm, and it was the best purchase I ever had. I know it's very expensive but it lasts ages, as you only need a tiny amount, and it makes your lips so soft! If you can save up for it and get it. It'll be worth it!

I always use La Roche-Posay Nutritic transforming care for very dry lips. It comes in jeans pocket friendly stick. This stuff is fantastic:) 3.99 yoyos approx in independent chemists.

Dr. Hauschka also does a nice lip balm, good for repair, very moisturising....bit expensive though, but it theres good spread in it for the size of the tub. about eleven euro.

Oh yes, the burts bees tin is much much much better than the stick (I tried this and was disappointed-then I lost it and ended up buying the tin), and far superior to ANYTHING ive ever used on my lips. It also has a lovely minty smell too.

I have a bit of lip balm fixation and the best one I have tried so far is by Lavera. Excellent stuff.

I use Lush's Ultrabalm on my lips. It's a vegan alternative to vaseline and I find it really conditioning.

I also use Burt's Bees lipstuff, which is amazing. I like the minty taste, and the honey smell from the honey-scented one I have!

It didn't change. Its the same thing, theobroma = cocoa seed butter. I think its all in your head. That or you just got a bad batch.

EDIT: If you bought your old tub in the US, or outside the EU (Maybe online) that could be the problem. None of the tubs in the EU have Phenol in them like the original recipe.
