That aint nothin'. He's a known biggot, and has gone so far as to claim that homophobia does not exist and is merely a propaganda tool.

The fact that his party is in power over in the UK is very worrying. In some ways people are more progressive here. It's the constitution that's holding us back more than anything.

Didn't a labour councillor in Sligo recently question why the HSE provides sex change procedures? Rest assured, we've plenty of backwards regressive nut bars here. A Fianna Gael government isn't going to be exactly liberal.

True, though that may be down more to ignorance I would imagine, rather than willful ignorance. I could be wrong. The uninformed often think sex change is a decadent luxuary. Yes, I know... Though Labour are more likely to be liberal than F.F. and certainly more liberal than Fine Gael, who are a Christian party.

Labour lead the polls so looks like we'll get them rather than F.G.

Don't think that's the case any more. Pretty sure Fine Gael have gone ahead of Labour again in the last few polls they did.

Of course, we won't know for certain until the election actually takes place but I still reckon a FG-led government is more likely than a Labour-led government (even with Kenny in charge...)

    EDIT: Yup. Source: http://www.thejournal.ie/fine-gael-record-14-point-lead-in-2011s-first-poll-2011-01/

Polls are unpredicatable as you rightly say-and some contradict each other. Depends on the demographs too they're taken from too. I hope we won't get a F.G. government. It will just make emigrating that more tempting. Meh, I hate politics anyway.

    *Sigh*

Yet again a high ranking politician has to go and make a ridiculously outlandish disparaging statement.
