Hey, where I currently work is being closed down at the end of this week, found out last monday that we are being transfered to another business (but it's run by the same owners). I really don't want to be transfered (just wanna get as far away from this crowd as I can) and was happy enough to take my redundancy money, if I turn down this transfer am I not entitled to the redundancy money? Thanks.

With them moving you to another location they havent made you redundant because there is work for you. Now, if you tell them you dont want the move and rather take redundancy instead they might pay you off just to get you off the pay roll if they wont be taking anyone on in your place.

    have they offered redundancy?

if they are transferring you within their company ie within "joe bloggs ltd" then they are not obliged to offer you redundancy as they are making every effort to keep you in employment.

the only basis on which you have a "right"(i use the term loosely) to be offered redundancy is if the relocation is to an unreasonable location ie two hours from your home.

as far as i remember, if they are moving to a different location then they wouldnt be offering you redundancy, as your current position is still available. but re-location money is what you may be entitled to. I remember my friend was in your position, and she got re-location or disturbance money it might have been called.
but companies do not legally have to offer you this

Cheers for the replies, place i'm working is 2 mins from where I currently work, just what I would have made from redundancy would have been much better than the one day a week they are currently offering me. Oh well.
