Hi, I have a 1.8 06 Honda Civic. I left the cabin light on in the car over night and the battery is now dead. I am having trouble jump starting the car though. It looks like there is at least some power going to my battery because the dashboard lights up and the car does try to turn over when the jump leads are connected but it doesnt seem to get enough power to actually start. I am using a 1.8 Diesel Fiesta to jump the car

    What am I doing wrong!?

Check your cable connections and make sure the -/+ are connected to the proper terminals.

Ya they are definatly on the right terminals.

Is it possible that there just isnt enough contact on the terminal? The positive terminal on my battery is very awkward so the grip on it is very small. I may just have to invest in a different type of jump lead?

    Hi
I had to jumpstart a neighbours car that was totally flat and it took 20-25 minutes before there was enough charge to start the car. So maybe leave the cars connected for longer.

Rev the tits off of the car you're using to charge the battery - makes it charge quicker. Failing that, try a tow start?

Sounds like the battery charge is gone too low and will possibly need connecting to a battery charger overnight. I have seen poor quality cheap jumps leads cause problems too though.

Ok think iv figured out the problem. I didnt notice it till now but the engine immobiliser light is flashing so for some reason the car no longer recognizes the key. Its going to take an (expensive) trip to a main dealer to try get it fixed.

    Not happy!

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Try taking the dead battery out, recharge it then refit it before you decide to go to the dealer.

    people underestimate that sooo much!

its surprising how many cheaper sets of jump leads are just sh1t. the real thin ones you buy in the likes or argos or tesco really struggle with anything even slightly taxing.
