I have a Universal LNB to install for a friend and discovered they have one of the newer Sky Mk4 LNB brackets (w/ spirit level built-in.)

Unfortunately it is too small to hold an standard 40mm diameter LNB.

Can you get a 40mm Mk4 bracket to fit these dishes?

Also, how do you unclip the Sky bracket without damaging it?
It seems pretty firmly attached with little give in the plastic.

This is the quad LNB & bracket my friend has.

A non-Sky LNB has wrong shape of internal focus rings for a Sky dish.

If you "mix 'n' match" by picking a 60cm dish and a Universal LNB at random, the chances are that the performance could be no better than that of the Sky minidish.

As a general rule, any standard [Universal] LNB will work with a circular (prime focus) dish or an offset focus dish which is taller than it is wide (which "looks" circular when viewed by the LNB) [Virtually all non-Sky Dishes, some non-Sky offset dishes are circular, these are poorer].

However, a dish which is wider than it is tall B]All Sky dishes[/B will need a special LNB.

Just to prove the point, here is a very early type of "Universal" LNB used with a Sky "minidish" (no longer manufactured).

The minidish is oval in shape, being much wider than it is high.

    Thanks for that info Watty.

Just to add a bit more detail:

I'm installing a Global Invacom FibreMDU system as there is >150m from the dish to the house.
House is located in the shadow of a mountain with a forest directly behind the house, blocking direct LoS of Astra 2D.
Even with professionally installed dish and CT-125 heavy-duty coax, they can't get good signal strength.
Fibre LNB is to be connected to a Quad converter using 150m pre-terminated fibre cable with 4 coax runs to 2 Sky HD boxes. One run of CT-125 will be kept to supply power to the LNB.

Would a 60cm round dish like this to the trick or should they consider 80cm?

    Triax 78cm

    Don't even think about smaller.
