Mod: Seek professional help regarding injury people here do not have medical training (for the most part) to help you and could end up causing more harm than good best to get it seen by someone who you know has the expertise to help treat you

The boards charter says we can't offer medical advice. You should really talk to an expert, rather than soliciting diagnoses online from people with no medical training or opportunity to physically examine the problem.

    Hi,

I run about 3 times per week between 5 and 10k each session. I have been running for 2 years consistently. I had a minor knee operation in 2007, it was a scope and some cleaning out.

I have rencently moved home and my new area for running has a lot of hills. I get bad knee pain sometimes.

Is there anything I can do to build the muscle around the knee, will this help? Any strectehs I can do? What about a knee support, is this a good or bad idea?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    J.

I have the same problem as I lift a lot of heavy weights and im a heavy guy my knees give me trouble I also suffer from chin splints. when squatting I wrap my knees so not a problem but I have found cycling great for its a lot more forgiving on the knees than running so maybe you should do a combo of running and cycling to give your knees a rest but still get in your cardio.
