I have got few emails regarding watching satellite channels on computer by paying a once off fee. But not sute whether it is just another spam. For eg the website http://www.watchsatellitetvforpc.org/ is boasting about 4500 HD Channels. Another one is http://www.satellitetvtopc.com.

I have a fairly good broadband and if possible think why not watch it on my computer? Do any one of you got any experience with these sites?

These are scams and/or illegal. I'd give it a wide berth, also unlikely to be allowed to be discussed here as it circumvents paying a 'proper' subscription.

The only legal (and much much better quality) way is a PCI DVB-S2 satellite card, LNBF and dish.

Or get a linux based receiver like a dreambox and you can stream your FTA/Subbed channels to laptops/pc's within your home network.

One of the very handy advantages of these receivers..................Its great to be able to lay in the bath and watch a match!!

Internet streams are next to useless, either very poor quality or hit and miss with keeping a constant stream going.

DreamBox 800HD PVR (Satellite Receiver) [dm800S] (http://www.dreambox-receiver.com/discount-dreambox-dm800S-hd-dm800S-hd-pvr.htm)- doesnt seem to have a HDMI interface!

What about the (Technisat HDFS Freesat HD Digital Receiver) http://www.technisat.com/index9132.html?nav=Sat_DVB_S_,en,64-15041 which has lots of features and a good user base.

The DM800 has a DVI to HDMI interface/cable.
