im just wondering is there any places that play dubstep in dublin etc ?? i know the likes of twisted pepper does it the odd time but i just dont know when! i love the sound and beats and i just want to go to enjoy the music and not drink and just enjoy myself ,im into figet electro and things alike but at those you cant really appreciate the music that music !! its just iv stopped going out the past year due to the lack of funds (you know your self) and i use to go to places around dublin that electro etc and they were so good and you could enjoy your self but tonight i was out in a club i use to go and now its just packed full of people ,which realistically are dopes that just go to theses places because of the scene there trying to follow(see them ever 5 seconds in places) and i just like wtf happened haha this place use to be good !!

well you get my drift . . .what places have a dubstep night or play just dubstep etc

    cheers lads

well like you said the twisted pepper is probably the best club for dubstep in dublin, and if you dont ever know when its on keep an eye on their website they advertise their nights quite well.

Skream and benga have both played there in the last month, and joker was there last week.

Strangeways isn't dubstep anymore. Think once a month they have dubstep.

MUD are what you're looking for in the Twisted Pepper, every Friday night.

Nah they definitely have dubstep in Crawdaddy every Wednesday, techno/electro/indie/etc in Pod and the Chocolate Bar. In fact the past few weeks they've only had Crawdaddy open so it was pretty much all dubstep.

There could well be dubstep at this, Mero plays a lot of dubstep.

Were it not you that told me it moved to once a month? Or is it just that Dubstep Dublin only do once a month, but it's still dubstep?

Hey there's actually a lot of dubstep going on in Dublin if you look hard enough. Dubstortion Dublin have monthly nights in Twisted Pepper and have hosted some incredible dj's in the past like Joker and Benga. They're very keen on promoting the Irish seen however and get mostly talented Irish dj's

They are running our labels launch night on the 18th too!! You should really check it out. Its going to be the founder Ois Hayes with Skydroid and Enno dj'n definitely going to be a big one.

If you want to check out Skydroid just look at a few of his tracks on the label http://soundcloud.com/riskierecords peace!

p.s. Nice to see a dubstep following finally hitting Ireland!

Youre too right bad selection of words on my behalf i apologise! Don't want to discredit any of the people who have been In the game for years. But it has grown in popularity by quite a bit in the last couple of months.

Hey A V A. what was the problem with Strangeways exactly? was it there choice of music or what? What is your preferred type of Dubstep?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,755 ✭✭✭A V A

wasn the music as such i think the fact i couldnt enjoy the music cuase of the idiots that were there , the lads went with have been a few times and they said it was never like the way it was, only two rooms were open , there was another room playin rap etc ,and there was no electro room as i was told there would be

From my experiences of being there I think they only have the chocolate bar I think and Crawdaddy open. Crawdaddy being where Dubstep Dublin play.

Ive gone a couple of times myself now and the biggest problem I find is sometimes (not all the time) the people there are a**holes. Lads who run it are bang on though and definitely know their stuff!

Don't want to sound like I'm only here to promote our labels launch. But if you are inclined you should check out Dubstortion in The Twisted Pepper next Friday. On top of Dubstortion theres going to be Spectrum there with Calibre playing in the basement too. you can get concession price herehttps://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&pli=1&formkey=dHBpcW1uS0poZDBwdk5vRnpaT0xGLWc6MQ#gid=0

When they first started the Pod was open, generally had good techno djs in there as well. Recently it seems to be only the other 2 rooms open. Cookie Monsta is there next week, that should certainly be worth a look!

Strangeways is moving to The Button Factory from this week on. Should be great, better sound system than in Crawdaddy and potential for bigger acts. Still and all, I'll miss having 2/3 rooms and a decent smoking area.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,755 ✭✭✭A V A

i know yea im headin with a good few , i was told it will still be stil split up with dubstep in the main stage !! should be ok but i do hate the button factory:(:( might put me off it !! i hope it does attract more big names just like transmission did !!!

I was at strangeways in tbf there last week, its not as good as crawdaddy i think. Not as grimey or something i dunno.

I thought the sound was a little quiet, but i do know they engineered the fuck out of the sound in there so it might be just that im used to listening to a headache in other venues.

Still, the tunes are deadly and the vibe is great. Im new to dubstep, but what i've heard there i like... alot. Every time i've been to strangeways i've had a MENTAL night and more and more friends from the most random circles are showing up at it.

strangeways was only a beast last week for the opening in the button!! is great that they actually have quality engineers now in there so we can actually enjoy the music and the wobbles haha in crawdaddy it was just a headache , i said to rob they need to turn up the sound a bit because i thought the music was reel low myself other than that it was great

Not that I'm aware of! Pretty sure it isn't, surely they would have made a partnership like that known?
