Well you have three options, digital, CD, or Vinyl. Have you any idea which one you'd prefer?

What kind of music do you like?

My suggestion would be try to pick up a set of cheap second hand CDJs and a 2 channel mixer. That way if you don't like you'll lose next to nothing as second hand equipment doesn't devalue to the same extent new equipment would.

As has been mentioned in threads like this before, definitely read 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life' -

Worth also picking up 'How to DJ Properly' -

adverts.ie or gumtree are best for second hang, or Thomann.de for new.

You can spend as little or as much as you want, but it'll be a few hundred at least anyway.

If you already have a PC or laptop, a bit of software would be a better place to start, like a demo of traktor or ableton or sumit. just to get the feel ....

Traktor is your best bet if going digital. Ableton would probably be to confusing to new DJ. I'd advise staying away from digital for your first few months, it's very easy to become lazy and skip the essentials when starting out on digital. Considering sync, BPM being automatically calculated and beat patterns appearing, it's like learning to drive via an automatic car I suppose, you still learn what to do but unless you plan on learning to beatmatch (which you don't need to know on digital) you can skip some of the essentials on digital and develop bad habits.
