    SUMMARY:
Great student opportunity available in Cork for 5-6 months for a degree student looking for a work placement. Pay is in line with industry. The experience, though , is far in excess of most placement jobs. We want an engineer who is capable of assessing, describing, and solving real technical issues in a real-world environment - and who is passionate about it.

We are a software & hardware design office, in Cork, 50 employees. We develop products for Cable TV operators (like UPC) which enable them to offer digital TV & Broadband internet access. See our website - www.arrisi.com. About 20% of our employees are M.eng or Ph.D -so this student placement is a real challenge, but also an opportunity to work with the best & the brightest in the industry.

We are looking for a work placement student who has a good understanding of computer networking and software testing. We are flexible on timescale but anticipate that it will be roughly march/April to Sept/Oct.

This is a great opportunity for the right person - you will be working with cutting-edge products & cutting-edge people. You will have a 39 hour working week, but will probably have to put in some extra hours on research & study. If you are passionate about electronics, communications, computers, networking - this is a great opportunity for you!

Look at these acronyms - if you think you know what 4 of them are, PM me.

    ARP
    DHCP
    DNS
    FTP
    RIP
    OSPF
    MAC address
    IP address
    Subnet mask
    MPEG - TS
    MPEG 4
    DVB
    dB
    QAM
    TCL
    Interleaver
    OFDM

If you PM me, I will respond quickly & we can have an initial chat about the position.
If it looks like we are a mutual fit, then we will arrange an interview, either f2f or via phone.

Our commitment to you is we will respond to you within 3 working days with feedback from your interview, and we will respond within 10 working days a confirmation of a job offer, if you are successful.

We are neither expanding nor contracting - we usually hire 1 or two students each year for their co-op period.
