I fail to see how this will change anything at all.

Nothing changes. Don't be hoodwinked into believing Cowen was the problem. He was just a part of it.

How good and honest of his party colleagues to stand up and declare their lack of support for him.. we should definitely all vote for them in the upcoming election.

I'd also like to...echo my sentiments for this....particular political party.

Getting seriously angry - what would happen to somebody like Cowen in a less tolerant (cowed) society?

the guy's scum sold out our country so he could be the big guy in his little golf club. Hope karma sticks a knife in his back

So, he goes away with one hell of an amazing pension..

Where's all the anger that should be directed towards Bertie? He should be held responsible as much as Cowen. He denied on TV several times that the property bubble wouldn't burst and what happened just after he left office.......

You know the chap in cavan who wants to stand in the general election so he can get the potholes fixed? Well instead of the parish pump mentality why not stand as an independent with a mandate of making sure that all members of this government who cop out and intend to get their huge pension end up with fúck all? Someone should tand with the sole intention of pushing through constitutional change to stop the people of this country paying millions to these crooks.

Surely when Clowen leaves it will be time for the gardai to arrest him and start investigations.

Anyways, any guess as to when he is leaving. would love to be in dublin at the gates of leinster house to cheer him out. Anyone interested? Dont want to be there like a lemon.

No doubt about that. Ahern escaped in mid-2008 just when things went pear-shaped. From 1997 until 2008 Bertie Ahern was the commander in chief of everything. Crap timing on Cowen's part.

I'm afraid that will only happen when Fine Gael and Labour get into power. They'll be advised by precisely the same civil servants and somehow everything is going to magically become great when they get into power.

I'd do it, but I'd prob be working that day to pay my taxes his fat pension.
