OK, bear with me here :(

Currently I dont have a landline. Nor do I have broadband (Iuse a meteor stick which is grand for what I do) . . until now.

    Blueface state this -
    # Cheaper calls - whether local, national, international or mobile calls.
    # No line rental charges for business or residential customers.
    on their website.

So heres my dilemma, I now need a landline. To get a blueface number I need broadband, and to get broadband I need to get a line and pay line rental, so why dont I just get the Vodafone €45 broadband/voice bundle as here - http://www.vodafone.ie/df/homebroadband/productdetails.jsp?productid=381055&producttypetab=HOMEPHONEBROANDBAND&categorytab=subcategory_1&perlicoid=115010
The blueface business starter is €10, plus whoever I get broadband off, plus I need an IP phone.
Or am I missing some trick somewhere?

No the providers like Vodafone have certainly improved their call bundling for local and national calls in the last few years to the point that, for a lot of people, it's not worth the hassle of switching to VoIP. You'll have to work our for yourself whether the package you might chose would work out cheaper with your particular mix of calls. If you make a lot of international calls then VoIP would probably work out better.

Ah I see. It will mainly be for receiving calls.
I have Sky so Upc charge more for standalone broadband.

So I suppose Ill just have a look and see what best suits. Thanks for the replies. :)

I used to have UPC for tv and broadband and blueface for phone for the past 6 years. I've just switched phone to UPC too and have a package including unlimited worldwide anytime landline calls, the highest speed broadband (highly recommended) and the high definition maximum TV package for €85 per month (including free phone, free wireless router and 2 free hard disk recorders (one HD) and all installations for free.
